Turns Out, Meghan McCain Wasn't In NYC When She Compared It To A 'War Zone'

Meghan McCain caused some fuss on Twitter when The View co-host exaggerating the damage done to her neighborhood amid the protests. Now, a source has revealed to Page Six that the star isn't even in the Big Apple.

As you know, pregnant McCain, 35, took to Twitter on Tuesday (June 2), writing, “My neighborhood in Manhattan is eviscerated and looks like a war zone. DeBlasio and Cuomo are an utter disgrace. This is not America. Our leaders have abandoned us and continue to let great American cities burn to the ground and be destroyed. I never could have fathomed this." Afterward, former Saturday Night Live writer Kristen Bartlett slammed the star's observation, replying, "Meghan, we live in the same building, and I just walked outside. it's fine."

And yet, as per an insider close to Page Six, the star isn't even in the city. "She's in Virginia at a family home because she wanted to be in a place she could keep guns," the source explained.

After Page Six reached out for a comment, McCain tried to backtrack her take. "I am six months pregnant — a gossip organization is about to run a story of where me and my family are currently," she wrote. "I sent a tweet yesterday based on the news I saw happening in midtown we all have been watching all over different media platforms."

"I support the peaceful protests, their movement but am absolutely heartbroken about the destruction in the city I have loved since I moved to when I was 18. It is important to have your voice heard and I hope everyone stays safe and healthy," she concluded.
