A poorly secured mattress flew off the back of a pick-up truck and caused an 18-wheeler to crash on a highway in Texas. According to KRGV, the big-rig driver drove over the mattress, and it got stuck underneath the trailer.
The mattress caught on fire, which quickly spread, engulfing the entire truck in flames. The flames were so hot they completely melted the cab of the 18-wheeler. Photos from the wreck show the mangled remains of the tractor-trailer sitting on the side of the highway.
The Edinburg Police Department said that the driver managed to exit the cab of the truck before the fire started and was not injured.
The driver of the pick-up truck fled the scene and was last seen traveling northbound on 281. Authorities are working to track down the driver, and it is unclear if they will face charges for the accident.
