A Texas husband is suspected to have shot his wife and her two children in a murder-suicide incident that took place months after he was arrested for domestic violence, the Amarillo Police Department confirmed to KAMR Local 4 News.
Jose David Olmos, 42, is believed to have shot Jessica Rose Olmos, 33, and her two children, Daniel and Jazale Garcia before turning the gun on himself before their bodies were found by police on Saturday (September 7) following a 911 call from a relative. Olmos was previously arrested on charges of assaulting a family member before being released on a $5,000 bond in May.
The suspect was accused of striking his wife with his hand and prohibited from having any contact with her or her children and ordered to take an alcohol education course, according to court documents obtained by KAMR Local 4 News.
“Jessica had recently returned back to the home to reconcile the marriage to try to make it better and the children also lived in the home at the time,” James Clements of the Amarillo Police Department’s homicide unit told the news station.
Olmos was also previously convicted of possession of marijuana and sentenced to one year in jail in 2001, as well as 90 days in 2008 for driving while intoxicated, which prohibited him from being able to have a gun. The weapon used in the incident belonged to Jessica, according to Clements.
The two children had no relation to Jose, Clements confirmed.
