Kelsea Ballerini took a moment to FaceTime her mom and her dog during her show over the weekend in London.
Ballerini held her ringing phone to the mic. She turned it to face the cheering crowd when her mom, Carla, answered. Ballerini said, “show us that boy,” and Carla spotlighted her daughter’s dog, Dibs. “Wow, look at that handsome, strong boy! Dibby, all of these people are giving you all their well-wishes, buddy,” Ballerini can be heard saying in a fan-recorded video shared on Instagram by Women of iHeartCountry. “OK, I love you so much. I’m gonna go do my job so I can buy your kibbles.” Ballerini said “I love you” to her mom and to Dibs as she ended the call and continued the show.
The Patterns star, who cried for Dibs on stage in an emotional moment during her New York City show in October, announced earlier this year that her beloved dog had been diagnosed with inoperable cancer in his heart. Ballerini shared in an update on her Instagram story last week that “sweet boy had another round of chemo today and is hanging tough. Truthfully, his original prognosis was 4 months. That was 4 months ago, but he’s still steady and happy, so every day is a gift and I’m a little extra grateful we get the holidays together this year. 🤍”
